Half Moon Bay, California

Half Moon Bay is an adorable town that’s known largely for its pumpkins. Big pumpkins, tiny ones, all shades of orange brighten the landscape from late summer through fall as pumpkin patches spring up to mark the season.

The agricultural region (from which the ever-changing menu at Navio benefits) is fringed by California’s Redwood forest, a rich ecosystem famed for its majestic trees and hiking trails. Whether you choose a short jaunt through the woods or an all-day trek, it’s worth it to experience this truly unique environment.

There are also a ton of sea-based activities to choose from in the Half Moon Bay area, such as whale watching, kayaking, and surf lessons. The water is cold year-round, but it’s nothing you can’t handle with a bodysuit.

While you’re there, don’t miss a stroll down Half Moon Bay’s Main Street which is lined with boutiques selling blown-glass pumpkin in all hues, ranging in size from “handheld” to “statement piece.” These make awesome souvenirs—just be sure to pack them carefully.
